First release version 1.0 April 1989
Second release no version change still version 1.0 June 1989
* Improved manual.doc file
* Added colorful title screen with less wait on the title screen
pressing any key will bypass the title screen.
Third release Version 1.1 July 1989
* Monster encounters are now multiple encounters of 1 to 4 different
monsters. Encounters are more colorful and exciting with this new
feature.
* New V == View option during combat to page thru the various monsters in
a given encounter.
* Added the SETUP.EXE program to be used to setup up the game for a hard
disk drive system. Will also let you set up for a Monochrome monitor for
those who are using CGA emulators on a Monochrome.
* Misc. bug fixes.
* Removed all time delays on initial title screen.
* Dramatic speed increase in continent movement.
Fourth release Version 1.2 January 1991
* New optional initiative system, with this system the monsters and
characters act on an individual basis. Initiative is based on movement and
a little luck. Those with initiative go first no matter the order in the
party. Also running is done on an individual basis for characters now. To
enable this select the new individual initiative during setup.
* File format for PARTY.DAT and ROSTER.DAT are different files now
PARTY12.DAT and ROSTER12.DAT. To convert version 1.1 or earlier characters
copy your old party.dat and roster.dat to the data disk or harddrive and run
the UPDATE.EXE program to convert them.
* Added better and tougher traps as well as random traps which can be
detected by a character with a a good disarm trap skill.
* The game will now compensate for high level characters over 20th level. The
monsters are made tougher if the party begins to get to very high levels,
just to keep it challenging.
* Dramatic speed increase in the dungeon mapping procedure, it is 5-10 times
faster now to put up the whole map.
* misc bug fixes that I was alerted to by users.
* Added new character classes the Paladin, Ashikari, and Barbarian.
- The Paladin and Ashikari have there own new spells. Many spells are
similar to current Cleric and Magician spells with the addition of combat
enhancement spells. Attack and defense spells increase the characters
attack and defense ability by increments of 10 per level of the spell.
Regeneration regenerates hit points during combat. These spells can also be
used in conjunction with an attack so you can cast a spell and still
attack. Also since the spells are not as powerful as the cleric and
magician spells the high level ones do not use as many spell points as the
cleric and magician ones do.
- The Barbarian is just a fighting and hit point machine wwho does not wear
much armor.
These characters were added just for fun and to be more compatable with the
next game I am working on. They are not in the documentation yet because I
just have not had the time to put it in yet.
* Lowered the cost of registration to $15.00.
